Mission Statement

Lay Up Treasures in Heaven exists in order to share Jesus Christ’s Gospel message, and His care for the needy throughout the country of Togo, in West Africa. This mission will be obedient to the Lord Jesus Christ’s first message.  After beginning His ministry, found in Luke Ch.4, He taught from Isaiah 61: “for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD’s favor has come!”  It is our heart’s desire to “go and make disciples” among the believers of this nation!

Statement of Faith

The Bible - We believe the Bible is inspired, infallible, and is the authoritative Word of God for all followers of Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 3:15-16)

God - We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, each of whom possess' equally all the attributes of Deity and the characteristics of personality. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, Mark 12:29, John 5:17-30)

Jesus Christ - We believe that Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, was born of a virgin. We believe in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His redemptive and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal future return to the earth in power and glory to establish His Earthly Kingdom. (Isaiah 7:14, Hebrews 7:26, Acts 2:22, 1 Corinthians 15:3, Acts 1:9-11)

Man - We believe man was created in God’s image, but fell from that place of perfection by willful disobedience to God, resulting in a sinful condition of spiritual depravity; that is to be condemned to die. (Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:17, Jeremiah 17:9, Romans 5:12-19)

Salvation - We believe the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and personal faith in the precious blood of Christ on the Cross, and trusting Christ as Savior. All who trust Jesus are regenerated and baptized in the Holy Spirit and will live and reign with Christ in His eternal Kingdom. (Luke 24:47, Romans 8:16, Romans 10:13-15, Titus 2:11, Titus 3:5-7)

Life - We believe the Scriptures teach a life of devotion and obedience to God’s Word. We believe that the Christian is able to live a godly life by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We believe that the Great Commission requires all believers to forgo their worldly and personal ambitions, and to go and make disciples of Jesus Christ. (Hebrews 12:14, 1 Peter 1:15-16, Philippians 2:12-13; Matthew 28:19)
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Mark 12:30-31
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

1 Corinthians 10:31
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
