Togo, Africa, officially the Togolese Republic, is a small country in West Africa with a population of approximately 6 million (2012). The official language is French and is very young with a median age of 19 (compared to 37 in the USA). The largest religious group, representing about 33% of the population is a cult known as Animism. Other religious groups are Roman Catholic (28%), Protestant (10%), other Christian denominations (10%), and Sunni Muslim (15-20%).
Togo is a very poor country where the average worker earns $825 (US) per year; that is less than $2.80 per day. Approximately one-half of the population lives below the international poverty line of $1.25 per day. The primary trade is commerce, characterized by it's popular harbors and industrial-free zone.
Togo is a beautiful, tropical, and sub-Saharan land. With average temperatures of the non-mountainous regions being 19° to 34°C (66°to 93°F). The country is approximately 56,600 Km² (35,169 Miles²).
